Kedarkantha Trek
The Kedarkantha Peak that lies in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi, has a beautiful scenery which it offers from every angle to the great peaks of Swargarohini and the High Peak. Worth mentioning, December to May marks its opening, while it's closed for July and August. The whole trek is spread over 9-10 months. From September to the October it is still pleasant , wile in December the winter is fierce with -0°C degrees below. January is the snows optimal, of February may be less with a peak of snow, and March indicate the melting of the low level. The month of April to June is the period when you can notice the snow in Kedarkantha as such. The trek from Sankri village takes an almost 5 day hike covering Judaka talaabfrozen lake and getting to the base camp at 3430 meters. Kedarkantha, with its 12,460 feet summit, is of moderate difficulty and is suited for both beginners and experienced trekkers. Therefore, appropriate preparation is necessary for the trekkers including possibilities of cold weather and limited access to oxygen. The perfect moment for a "Making it look like a fairyland in the land of snow" experience is January to June when there aren't as many people around.
